The new Birmingham University Sports & Fitness Centre opened its doors in May 2017 to the community after nearly 2 years of design and construction. Replacing the former ageing Monrow Centre, the new £55m facility includes the city’s first 50m Competition Swimming Pool that can be subdivided into two individual 25m pools, a 12 Court Sports Hall, 6 Squash Courts, 3 Activity Suites, Ergo & Spin Studios, a Climbing Wall, a Fitness Gym with up to 200 stations and separate Wet and Dry Changing Areas. As well as providing the architectural tiling package Spectile assisted with the M40 Specification, tile samples and a visit to the centre to provide technical guidance for cleaning and maintenance including pendulum testing to confirm the Anti-Slip tiling complied with British safety regulations.
